A Mauritanian-Saudi company invests in the Mauritanian iron mines

The Mauritanian Saudi Iron and Steel Company (Takamul) has expressed its quest to produce 10 million tons annually of highly concentrated iron pellets within 72 degrees, This is from a project it is working on in northern Mauritania.

The director of the company, Mohamed Mostafa Ould Ahmed, said that the company is working to produce this quantity of highly concentrated iron pellets by the horizon of 2023. Stressing that they are now in the process of completing a feasibility study.

The project implemented by the Mauritanian-Saudi company is known as “Atomay”.

On Tuesday, in Tires El-Zemmour, a workshop was organized to reduce the environmental impacts resulting from its exploitation. And taking into account the environmental controls in the implementation of its work.

Director of Environmental Monitoring at the Ministry of Environment and Sustainable Development, Sheikh Eltrarad Ould Mohamed Saadbouh, confirmed that this project, which is being implemented by “Takamul” company, may have environmental impacts on the region. He stressed that his ministry is trying its best to have these effects limited.

It announced the establishment of the Takamul Company based on an agreement between the Saudi Basic Industries Corporation (SABIC) and the National Company for Industry and Mining (SNIM) in Mauritania. The agreement was signed between them on 13-09-2013 in the Mauritanian capital, Nouakchott.

And it was signed on behalf of the Saudi Company by Engineer Abdul Aziz Al-Hamid. And on the authority of SNIM, its general manager, Mohamed Abdallah Ould Ouada, The company was established on 12-12-2012, And in terms of a joint capital of 50% for each of the parties.
