SNIM
SNIM is the major mining company in Mauritania and is the second employer after the state with more than 6000 employees. It is a well-known actor within the global iron ore trading circles for the last fifty years.
Its yearly production capacity has reached 13 Mtpa and it was ranked as the 15th in the 2017 world iron ore exporters list.
SNIM started a development programme to increase its production significantly as part of its Growth Strategy.
For many years, SNIM policy was oriented towards the creation of subsidiary companies for activities not directly related to iron ore mining.
The SNIM GROUP includes, beneath the main mining company SNIM, 10 subsidiaries dealing with different sectors (civil engineering, metallic construction, foundry, consignment, water and electricity, hotels, etc.).
SABIC
SABIC is a public company based in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. The Saudi Arabian government owns 70 % of the company shares, while the remaining 30 % is publicly traded on the Saudi stock exchange market.
SABIC’s overall production has increased from 35 million metric tons in 2001 to 72.7 million metric tons in 2016.
Today, SABIC has more than 35,000 employees worldwide and operates in more than 50 countries with innovation hubs in five key geographic zones, namely the US, Europe, the Middle East, South East Asia and North East Asia.
In 2018, SABIC ranked as the third largest integrated chemicals company in the global market and one of the global leaders producing diversified chemicals as well as Iron and Steel Products represented by its 100 % owned affiliate of Saudi Iron & Steel Co. (Hadeed).
Hadeed is an integrated iron and steel company with an annual producing capacity of 5.8 million tons of diversified long and flat steel. It consumes about 8.0 million tons of imported High Grade Direct Reduction Pellets (HGDRP) for its five Direct Reduction Plants sourced out from different major suppliers like VALE, LKAB, SAMARCO and others.
